Cape Apago, Sunset Bay State Park, OR: This was at the end of the park road and the end of our stay at Sunset Bay State Park outside of Coos Bay, Oregon. Several more stunning views and a few snaps from the trails. The camp site was so so but the park put out a very nice welcome mat with much to do during our two night stay.
As we take notes on a place to retire the Lil Coconut, Coos Bay was also on the so so list. It defintely was not a "hip" town, didn't look like a lot of outside athletic activity was happening by the girth of the inhabitants we saw. True, we did spend an hour in McDonalds looking for an internet hook up and that's not a good place to judge a town's character. Neither is the town laundromat. But we did do some shopping at a Safeway and we drove around a bit. We just had a sense that this was not the place to hunker down. The nearby airport and the outdoor train museum were defintely important features though. Especially the choo choos.
